📖 The Story Behind “The Hide”
We all experience love and loss in different ways. “The Hide” explores that push and pull—the deep care we have for people and memories, even when we know it’s time to move on.
Sometimes, we hide to protect ourselves, but life keeps moving forward, no matter how we feel.
For me, this song was about finding closure after losing someone important in my life. There was no final goodbye—just an open door that never fully closed. But as time passed, that door grew thinner and thinner. Eventually, I had to make the choice to move forward.
Sometimes, we still hide.
Lyrics
🎶 Lyrics:
I can feel it now
Let time slip away
I’ll find a different route
Almost gave mine away
I lost all the words to say
(When it’s good enough)
Pushed and pulled our love to break
(Was it good enough?)
We all want to give our hearts away
Sometimes it doesn’t work out that way
We hide
And so we hide
When something’s wrong, we still move on
And so we hide
You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s fading
And I’ve been caught up in life rearranging
But love goes on
And love goes on
I’ll leave the door cracked
But I’m moving on
I’ve been thinking to myself
(Was it good enough?)
Stuck my feelings on the shelf
(Wasn’t good enough)
We all want to give our hearts away
Sometimes it don’t work out that way
We hide
And so we hide
When something’s wrong, we still move on
And so we hide
🎸 (Guitar Solo)
And so we hide
And so we hide
When something’s wrong, we still move on
And so we hide
And so we hide
When something’s wrong, we still move on
And so we hide
